The Ocotlán market takes place every Friday in Ocotlán de Morelos, located about 40 minutes from Oaxaca. The market of Ocotlan is probably one of the most traditional markets for its suppliers and consumers from many parts, but mainly, Ejutla, Zimatlán and Miahuatlán, since they are the closest.
In the Ocotlán market there is a variety of colors, flavors and smells that bombard the senses. In the market there is an abundance of flowers, delicious food from which you can choose, and stop by the fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also see traditional clothes, handmade knives and quite possibly a couple of live animals for sale.
If you are planning a car trip to the beach, why not go to breakfast first and have a look at the Ocotlan market? Maybe even make a night stop in the Sierra Sur, before descending along Pochutla? The new ‘superhighway’ no longer passes through Ocotlan, but if you are not in a hurry, stop at the market, you will not regret it.
