In the face of changes in land use, since forests, jungles and mangroves and other systems have been modified, both to create infrastructure and for livestock and agricultural areas, it is necessary to act decisively to develop a conservation plan for the environment that includes elements to address the effects of climate change.
The Institute of Nature and the Oaxacan Society (INSO) recognized the urgency of redoubling efforts, building social awareness about caring for the environment, otherwise, actions tend to be minimal.
Water pollution, deforestation, the destruction of the natural environment, excessive growth of cities, environmental pollution, among other elements have placed Oaxaca in critical condition.
Juan José Consejo Dueñas said before the growing environmental deterioration suffered by Oaxaca, and especially the capital, it is urgent to take quick and coordinated actions so as not to continue attacking the natural environment and its resources.
He proposed to reinforce the ecological ordinances, make them more effective and more strict, as well as analyzing each of them very carefully and in greater depth in order to update and complete the environmental legislation.
But above all, he stressed, to enforce the law, because in many cases it is very limited and in other cases, it’s totally evaded, because if nothing is done the environment will deteriorate much faster and the city would enter chaos for many reasons.
Because taking care of natural resources is to ensure the future of Oaxaca, it is the responsibility of society as a whole and that can be carried out from homes with small actions such as caring for water, decreasing the consumption of electricity or moving in means of non-polluting transport.
