More than three thousand military units, public security, and rescue, as well as students and teaching staff of various educational institutions, participated in the civic-military parade in the streets of downtown Oaxaca.
The parade that began at the corner of 20 de Noviembre and Trujano streets, bound for Paseo Juarez “El Llano”, maintained an atmosphere of peace, joy and national fervor.
Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, accompanied by representatives of the Three Powers, as well as military authorities, witnessed the event from the main balcony of the Government Palace, on the occasion of the 208th anniversary of Mexico’s independence.
The state leader called on the people of Oaxaca to make the country a stronger place and provide commitment and skills to forge a more just homeland, to fight for the values of freedom and equality that inspired the autonomy of Mexico as a nation.
“In this patriotic month we must remember that the spirit of Mexico is indomitable in the face of adversity; that Oaxaca walks with its head held high and moves forward with energy, dignity, and strength towards a better future,” he said.
