Faced with the growing number of cases of dengue in the Papaloapan Basin region, Oaxaca and Veracruz joined efforts to increase preventative actions in the area.
In the town of San Juan Jaltepec, municipality of Santiago Yaveo, two weeks ago the death of a minor due to this disease was reported; while at least six people are hospitalized.
Yesterday in San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec, representatives of the Health Jurisdiction 03 of the Health Services of Oaxaca met with officials of the 09 Cosamaloapan Jurisdiction of the neighboring entity, in order to intensify the prevention in 11 bordering localities, in order to reduce the cases.
Among the agreements established in both entities, the following were agreed: the immediate report of probable cases in the bordering areas; the intervention in the municipality of Tres Valles, Veracruz, so that every three days nebulizations are carried out and a week with larval control in order to synchronize the strategy with the municipality of Tuxtepec .
As well as the integration of actions in places of high population concentration such as schools, religious centers and bus terminals; the scheduling and coordination of the work between both states to align them in the areas of health promotion and health regulation; as well as the follow-up and evaluation meeting agreement for next October 17.
The interstate meeting was attended by representatives of the National Center for Preventive Programs and Disease Control ( Cenaprece) , Víctor Manuel Salazar Briones and Pedro González Santamaría .
The jurisdictional leaders of Tuxtepec and Cosamaloapan, Moisés Montalvo Asprón and Orlando Uscanga Muñoz, respectively, agreed that the decrease in the spread of vector-borne diseases requires the participation of the various agencies since when wills and resources are united, results are obtained in favor of the population of both entities.

The SSO informed that a containment plan was also extended in the municipalities of San Antonio de la Cal and Santa Lucia del Camino, in the capital.
The agency explained that the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers ( ISSSTE ), notified the entry of a 36-year-old patient residing in the municipality of Santa Lucía del Camino with symptoms consistent with severe dengue, who attended to the emergency service on September 23 at 5:22 pm, which was attended in a timely manner.
He indicated that the medical protocol was provided and the analyzes for the confirmation of dengue were already sent to the State Public Health Laboratory Oaxaca ( LESPO ).
The patient was discharged on September 25 at 1:35 p.m. before the improvement of his health condition.
He explained that in order to reduce the risks to the population and achieve the interruption of the transmission of this disease, three brigades were sent to this demarcation with emphasis on the area where the patient lives and his workplace; as a result, 424 hectares were sprayed, protecting 38,210 people living and working in the area.
In particular, the institution has carried out operations in the endemic regions that concentrate the highest number of cases of this disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti.
