Abandoned baby girl found on the banks of the Salado River in Oaxaca

A newborn girl was abandoned on the banks of the Salado River, in the municipality of San Agustín de las Juntas, a river with high contamination by sewage that crosses the capital of Oaxaca.

An element of the Auxiliary Police (PABI) heard the cries of a baby around 7:55 am Saturday morning, so he approached the place and found the baby wrapped in a blanket and a black bag. The newborn girl still had the umbilical cord.

He asked for support from paramedics, who recovered the girl and gave her first aid. Later, she was transferred to a public hospital, according to the Public Security Secretariat of Oaxaca.

So far the baby has not been claimed by any family member and is expected to be delivered to a state DIF shelter while an investigation into the identity of the baby proceeds.

If you have any information, please contact local police.
